Question

What were the years for the GTX? 1967 to ???? I've seen 67 thru 71. Did they stop in '74?

The REAL GTX was built from 67 to 71. I think Plymouth killed it because of the weak sales figures.

I believe that from 72-74 it was an option along with the RR instead of a seperate body code like the earlier years. I heard of a 73 RR that had GTX markings that was an option added to it at the factory. Larry

In 73 and 74 if you ordered a road runner with a 440 it automatically received the GTX badges or rather decals. I would assume it was the same in 72, but at least one road runner was built with a 440 6bbl owned by Moparlar and retained the road runner designation. Perhaps he could tell us more about the 72's. Unlike the R/T moniker, the GTX nameplate was carried on and suffered the dilution of performance.

Cool

Thanks guys, everything I've read lead me to believe that they stopped in '71. Now I know the whole story. I've only had mine for about a month so I've still got a lot to learn.

The GTX as a seperate Vin was ended in 71. 72-74 if you ordered a Roadrunner with a 440 you got GTX Badges along with Roadrunner badges. In 72 they were on the Deck lid and the Quarters. 73-74 they were on the Deck lid and Hood.
