Question 440 piston ring gaps??

My buddy is rebuilding a 440, and we are looking for what size ring gaps for it. He just bought the motor about a week ago, it had been rebuilt before. He decided to tear it down just to make sure everything is fine. One of the rings was cracked, either when he tore it down or ?? . He bought new rings, and does not know the gaps for them. The rings did't come with any specs for gapping them, so if anyone can steer us in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Unless it has hypereutectic pistons, the old rule of thumb i've always used for the top ring is .004"gap per inch of bore or around .017" on a stock bore. The second ring can be gapped at .003" per inch of bore.If you plan to run nitrous increase the top ring gap by .005"
