Any ideas?

I have the carb off and partially apart. If I put gas under the acc. pump, it squirts fine, but no gas comming in on upstroke. Must be trash, I hope. I'll blow it out tommorow and see if it helps.

Edelbrock or Holly? If it is a Holley, you gotta rubber umbrella check valve or a ball? You may have a bad bowel gasket. Itll shrink up so bad the pump passage will move right past the hole. If you gotta ball, it might be trashed up like you said.
Carter's can shrink their leather's tighter than OJ's gloves, no good. All three carbs pump through a weighted check valve that can be gummed up.

On the carter styles, I've had some cheapo leather pump materal that I had to soak in gas an "Massage" so it would expand enough to make a good seal in the accel. pump bore.

But based on your last post, You may need to check the passage where fuel enters the accelerator pump. I second the check-ball or check-valve inspection if it is a Holley.

Question Simple? carb question

I soaked the body in carb cleaner and blew it out, re-installed and it still won't pump gas. I also set the float level higher and if I set it any higher it will start running out the top.
I'm going to look at it one more time and if that don't do it, I'm changeing this carter 2bbl for a Thermo. I've been putting it off because I have the dash apart in my Dak. Replaced the AC Evaporator and trying to figure where everything under the dash go's.

btw: Thanks everyone!

Gripe Stupid Cordaba

Okay, I admit it, this has become a challenge. Even though I have a Thermo-quad rebuilt and waiting and an intake off an 87 cop car, I have taken it personal. I have the carb off and with gas poured into the well the pump still will not suck the gas in. If I pour it into the cyl. it will spray but thats all. Now I think I got a bad pump. I know there has to be some simple awnser.

Think I'll have a beer and go to the parts store tomorrow.

Default carb work

tar baby Chill and have another beer and remember tommorow never comes anyway. I haven`t messed with one of those 2brl`s in a while.
But it sounds to me like the passage that feeds the pump is your problem area. the pump must be good or it wouldn`t sqirt when you feed it.

Question Changed yet?

Not yet. Trying to alter the intake right now. It's an 87 intake and don't have provision for choke hook-up.

Exclamation Well I found out what was up!

Well I found out what was wrong with the 2bbl. They were the rubber type and I got two bad accl. pumps. Both came from Advanced Auto Parts and I won't buy another from them. Couldn't get it to suck the gas in so I finally came up with the idea of putting oil on top of the pump as a sealer. Worked like designed that way. Don't want any more bad parts.
