Default I need details of the small block "302" heads

I just purchased a 318 for $40. and I see that i got the "302" casting heads. I seem to remember reading somewhere these were decent heads but I cant remember. Any help appreciated.

Scott,

Yeah, the 302 heads are the best production 318 head you can get. They have updated exhaust ports (raised higher compared to earlier 318 heads) and this allows for creating a decent short turn radius when porting. They also have the obvious heart shaped combustion chambers.

I've run several sets and I can honestly say it is a better heads than previous ones.

Just thoughts.

My sources tell me they were introduced on passenger car 318's with a roller cam in 1985. Not sure when they were discontinued, prolly early 90's when the magnum came out ('92).

The info I have found says that they were used from 85 - 87. I have no info whether they were used on roller cam motors. The motor I got mine from was a non roller motor but it looks like the block was machined for a roller motor but built as a non roller. It does not look like it was ever opened up before I got it.
