Default Carter Jets / Rods HELP

I have a Carter 625 on a very mild hop up
1972 Satellite 318 auto
The Car is running rich at the bottom end
the Rods are .075 X .047
Should I change the rods.
I cannot read the jet Numbers
I am assuming they are origional size jets.
What would be the next smallest Jets from stock ??
If it matters I am Driving at 3500 ' ASL

Thanks in advance
Fred..

I don't know what 3500 ' ASL is but, The rods have a number on the side that I need a magnifying glass to see it. (Jets as well.)
Skip the jet and change the rod. If you have the stip kit, you can look up the sizes and go one smaller.

Fred I don't think you can go any leaner with the rods. The next smaller jet size is 98 then 95. I have been known to be wrong though!

I think he means ASL=Above Sea Level. Not the same as AGL=Above Ground Level.

My strip kit didn't come with any lean rods. Had to buy them from Jeg's.

Default Rods and jets

Thanks guys
Right Doug ASL = Above Sea Level
I bought a cheap magnifying glass
They are 98 jets
I can't find any leaner rods so I will try 95 jets and go from there

Fred..

You can buy the metering rods cheaply at Jeg's Summit or P.A.W.

You don't have to buy an entire Strip Kit to get them.

But, the reduced jet size should work.

Fred...did you read my article on Edelbrock Carb tuning?

You should referance the Eddy mixture chart, you may need to change metering rods along with the jets to get 1 or 2 steps smaller.

Thanks for the info cuda66273
Just finished reading your Carb tuning post.
Sounds fairly simple. I am not a Carb expert
So just in case which port should the vaccume advance be hooked up to ?
I insatlled the 95 jets Good news.
No more black smoke at start up or at heavy acceleration. No more eyes watering standing beside my car at idle.
Bad news The car idles a bit rough now , but not bad.
Acording to the Eddy manual with 95 jets I shold have 073 X 047 rods. I will try those and then your carb tuning guide.

Thanks again
Fred..
