Classic Car Insurance
I am looking to get insurance on my 74 Duster. I would want full coverage and the regular companies here in Illinois don't cover such vehicles. What companies supply this coverage and would I need an appraisal (sp ?) or would receipts be OK ?

With hagerty's and a few others, you supply pics, and tell them how much you want to insure for. There are restrictions on usage, you can insure now as either a modified or as classic, depending on how far from original it is.
They charge you by how much you want to cover it for, up to a point. In my case, over $16k required an official appraisal. Also, make sure it is an "agrred value" policy, so there is no dispute if you need to make a claim. I have mine insured as a collector car, so I can use original plates from 1973. |

Try www.grundy.com
They offer unlimited mileage and you can pick out how much your vehicle is worth. They also insure two types of classes. Stock and modified. There prices are very reasonable too. |

JC Taylor is also very good. You have a computer at your disposal so you might as well surf for the best quote. Hemmings lists the top Insurers throughout the US. Besure to get a "Stated Value" policy in the event of a claim or loss. Hope this helps......

Farmers Insurance in MO covers my Duster for an agreed value of $9000. It costs me $110 every six months. Car doesn't have to be kept in a locked garage like most but does have useage limits/can't be a daily driver which it isn't anyway. I do alot of test & tune drives though. LOL
