I'm replacing a lean burn with an electronic ignition and was wondering if someone knew how to wire one in. I don't have a wiring harness, so have to wire from scratch. I have a 4 pin ecu, vacumn advance single pick up dist., and a single ballast resistor. The main thing I need to know is where the leads from the pick up coil attach to which pins in the ecu.

first thing i would do is get my hands on a mopar engines speed secrets and racing modifications book part# 5249704.IT has the wire diagrams your looking for and tons of info you can use later .its 25 bucks but vary resourceful.try this.looking at the ecu with the mettle plate on left and plug on your right. ok top L COIL NEG. FROM COIL POS . TO PASSENGER SIDE OF BALLEST .TOP RIGHT OF ECU TO DRIVERS SIDE OF BALLEST RESISTER. AND THE BOTTOM OF ECU THOSE TWO GO TO DISTRIBUTER.but i would go to the bone yard and get the plug for the ECU . YOU NEEd awire from left side of ballest to 12 volts when key is on .and awire from ballest right side to starter relay.

The wiring harness you need (P3690152) is avail. from Mopar (or Year One JM66 @ $24.95). It has the both the ECM and Dist. connectors. I'm sure you can get it direct from Mopar for a few dollars less, but the part number isn't on my 99 price list! Just to let you know, if you connect the 2 distributor wires backwards, the system will still work, but it will not run very well (Missing/poor idle, hesitation, etc...) If you get it all hooked up and notice any problems, swap the 2 wires and see if it helps. I really recommend getting the new harness...You can probably get delivered to your door faster than it would take to find a used one in good condition!
