Default Edelbrock Performer RPM and EGR?

Hi
After studying all tip from you experts Ive desided to buy a Edelbrock Rpm and hope it will be a good choise for my A/T 383 with modified 906 heads .
I mostly use the car for cruising,,but who will say no to a little extra if needed!
Just wonder what the EGR meens?
The only model of the RPM in Summit for 383 is one (EGR).
Is this EGR anything that makes diff on an old engine like mine 1970 383 or is it just a hole to be pluged?
Sorry for not being updated on this basic problem!!
Best regards Olle B

Olle.....

You said you bought the RPM, so part number 7186?

That manifold does not have EGR, which is an emissions feature which resurculates exhaust gas.

The performer 383 (2186) has an EGR pad, and I don't think EGR was used until 1972.

The RPM should work good on your engine, since you have worked on the heads a little. It will work really well if you ever decide to upgrade to the 6091 AL heads as well!

Hi
Well I havent bought any yet,,but I will if its the correct for me,
And yes the number is 7186.
Its the only model of the RPM sold in my Summit catalog that fits my 383 and after the description "Chrysler 361-383-400" it says (EGR)
That makes me a little confused but maybe its nothing to take notice about.

Olle....

If you are looking at the 7186.....don't worry, Summit must have a misprint since that manifold does not have any EGR. It should say (non-EGR). Summit makes all kinds of misprints, I once saw one of our manifolds advertised and summit put another manufacturers picture with it!

Hi Roger
Thanks for your answer.
It seems like you if any will know!
Can you also answer this one ?
The intake is a little higher than original cast iron for my 383!?
Will it add any problem running with my Holley 750 and ORIGINAL Dubble snorker aircleaner concerning the total high and by that freeclearance under the hood?
Thanks again,,,,best regards Olle B

Olle....

Hood clearance is always different depending on the model of the car. We don't know how everything will fit. The RPM manifold (7186) is probably about 1.5" taller than the stock manifold. Use the link below to look how to measure your current hood clearance and then you can figure out how the 7186 manifold will fit. You use a modeling clay on your aircleaner, close the hood, and the measure the height of the clay afterwards. Usually there isn't a problem with how old your car is, since there is usually a lot of room left over.

Let me know if you still have any other questions after reading the information above!

Default hood clearence

I put a RPM manifold (7186) on my 70 383 challenger (modified cam shaft) and it made the car run great (750 holley). But a have the flat hood and had to change air filters to a very skinny one, maybe 1 inch. I'm sure your R/T has the raised scoop hood and will have no problem. If it does just get a skinny filter.

Thanks
Yes I run with the bulge hood and Im not 100% but pretty close to it sure the intake will run with my old airfilterchamber.
Thats a little of the point of it,,, to run the car looking original and still have more than enough of the power,,I will do the clay trick just to be sure.....
Thanks.
Best regards Olle B
