Roll cage help - Please help if you can
The car in question is a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere.
Did you buy a kit from any of the cage makers out there? If you did, who did you get it from? Did it fit like you thought it would? Any Horror stories? Would you buy one again or custom fab one? I am trying to decide if I should buy a pre fab one, then take it to a shop and let them install it...... I called Alston and SW and both told me they carry only one kit, it is a universal kit that fits all 62 72 Mopar B Bodys. I can't see a 62 65 B Body and a Later B utilizing the same kit without a lot of modifying to be done. I called Art Morrison today and they told me "there cages are custom made for each car, If they haven't built one for your specific car, there is an additional $100.00 charge for designing it that is added to the normal cage price. The price depends on if they have the plans on file." He asked me what kind of car, I told him, he said "No Problem, we have plans for it. The price $295.00 + 85.00 shipping = $380.00. What is the rate to fab a cage in a car. Do you know of anyone in the Tucson AZ area that can do it? No matter which way I go with this I still need to find a shop to get this done or buy a welder myself and try to do it myself which is not a good Id |

A cage designed for your specific chassis will be better than a more generic cage. So, from your description, Morrison gets the nod in my book. If you've not done a lot of welding, and don't have some chassis fabrication experience, then take it to someone who does. Even a generic"weldshop" may not be best place to take the car, find someone who has the knowledge. Improperly installed, a cage can be more dangerous than no cage at all, properly installed, it can save your life!

I would agree with david .
however if you don`t have any choice take it to some one who is a certified welder a pipe welder would be best. But not required. |

I would agree that Morrison would be your best bet as the pipe will run you close to the same money and with him it is already bent to fit your app. There should be a few guys at your local cruise ins or race track that have cages in theirs. Ask 'em. They should give you the best insight for where to go to get it installed. If not, look for any place around that does circle track stuff.

Hi Nick. Might be a bit of a road trip for you but Richard at Comp Chassis can make a cage for your car. He lives up in Glendale. I had him cage mine when I put the ladder bar set up on.
