Hello, I'm new to the Mopar Market so bare with me. I recently found a 1965 Barracuda that a guy is selling for 1500 bucks. No rust, original paint, showroom interior, and runs decent. What should I do? How popular is this style vehicle in drag racing, and would a 426-Hemi go in it? That is without any major body mods. I currently have one in storage. Thanks in Advance!

MONGOOSE,
Nice buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A small block would be the easiest with no cutting or hacking... Of course a hemi will fit but you will have to employ the use of the neighbors saw & welder!!!!

I know of a Hemi in a Harley-Davidson motorcyle, so you can put one in about anything you want, but I wouldn't do it unless it's a pure race car. You will not like driving it on the street...and maintaining it. It would be a hack-job beyond description.

As a 65 Cuda owner I say, way to go!

I paid $2000 for mine a couple of years ago, not as nice as yours sounds. My paint's ok, my interior is less than ok, BUT I have factory AC and a 273.

The Cuda is an A body and a bit smaller than later ones, maybe lighter? The front track isn't as wide as later A bodies so the engine compartment is tighter. You can swap a big block in without much fuss these days but a Hemi would probably require cutting the fenderwells for the exhaust.

The Hemi under glass car was a 66 Cuda with a Hemi, in the back where the rear window is, so yeah you can put a Hemi in a 65 Cuda.
