How to identify a 727 torqueflite
Does anybody know how to identify the year of a 727 ?
I have a 1969 440 installed in a 1974 dodge truck. The truck originally had a 318 so when I installed the big block I had to get a new tranny that would bolt to the big block. I found a newly rebuilt unit at one of the local towing yards. The tranny works fine but I would like to install a shift kit. The kits fit tranny's from 66 to 70 and then another kit for the 71 to 77. No clue on the year of what I have ? Any help greatly appreciated Thanks in advance |

The transmission part number is located on the drivers side pan rail just above the pan gasket. it will start with PK.
Look here to find the year: http://www.moparts.com/ub/ubb/Forum13/HTML/000017.html |

Thanks
Thanks a lot John.
Especially that link that took me right to the information. I was kind of leaning towards an after 70 tranny as the truck is a 74. According to the numbers and that list my tranny is a 67 -68. Again thanks you saved me the hassle of getting the wrong kit. Jerry |
