Question Curios about hypernutectic pistons

I have not heard this term before joining this this site. I have been away from Muscle & performance cars for many (20+) years. What are they and what are pros & cons.
Thanks

Try keith Black - silvolite's web page
http://www.kb-silvolite.com/1toc.htm

They explain the high silicon alloy aluminum cast pistons.

I think it's actually "hypereutectic".

I'd be cautious. If you're going for any kind of horsepower go with forged slugs. I know too many guys who have wasted a hard built engine at the track because they wanted to save a couple bucks and bought hyperuetetic KB pistons. (I'm one of them!) Check the similar thread running right now on this site on the same issue!
Peace

They are a good choice for all but heavy nitrous use. You must decide before you install them how you are going to use the engine, gap the top ring accordingly using their formula, and not go beyond that application. They come in a variety of sizes for Mopars off the shelf, use quench dome technology for high compression detonation free, and have generous valve reliefs. I run KB215's in my 451 w/10.3 comp and I love 'em!

yeah, be REALLY careful with the rings. probably due to error, but one of the rings seized on my buddies KB's and yanked the top of the slug clean off! Not pretty!
