Default mountain dew 500

I am going to have one of many of the weekly layoffs at Caterpillar the week previous to Labor Day.... and I am thinking of attending the Mountain dew 500 .... I ave never attended a nascar event and would appreciate any input as to what to expect.... any suggestions on the area attractions and possibly hotel motels not to far away? I am looking at tickets on ebay for the event... any other tickets out there?
thanks Wayne

Never been to a NASCAR race either but am a big Ward Burton fan. CAT has been a good sponsor to him, he's done them good also with winning the Southern 500 last year plus Daytona and the first Loudon race this year. Are there alot of fans at your plant?

Biggrin Caterpillar Dodge

There are some race fans at Cat... But we spent a long time on strike, last time was 18 months. alot of guys could give a ---- about Cat .... There is a 85% possible retirement rate in my building within the next year... We have a 30 and out retirement.
We have all kinds of race hats shirts cars etc. for sale right in our building... I am in building SS East Peoria plant ,we build d6 d7 d8 d9 d10 d11 tractors.
Wade Burton came through on tour in our building and was very cordial shaking hands and sighng photos that He handed out.
Being a Dodge fan and working at Cat its going to be nice to take home the tickets with the cat car on them from Darlington, as wll as the memories, We are really looking forward to it.

That's a long time to be on strike. Hope all goes well and you enjoy the race when you go. May the #22 can bring home the win again.
