attack of the killer sixes
Hey! This thread is for those of you that tapped into the awesome power of slant sixes. I'm a sixer fan myself. I want to get a nice little A-body dodge or plymouth and fix up a sweet little 170 for it. There is no reason an engine like that cant do 130 mph under the hood of a '73 dart! But i want to hear about your sixes! What do you have you six in? How fast does it go? What did you do to it? What plans do you have? how much did you spend? etc... Leave a msg, lets get a big attack of the sixes started!

14:84@90mph
Mine is a '68 225 bored to a 232 with 2.2 turbo pistons on 198ci rods. Compression is 10.8-1. I have a mild Racer Brown cam, 268*/.460" lift. The head was mildly ported and has SB Ford valves with stock 340 springs. I use an Offenhauser intake and a 390 cfm Holley 4bbl carb. Headers are Cliffords.
Trans is a 904 with V-8 guts, a Cheetah valve body and a 10" Midwest converter. Rear is a 3.55 Sure Grip 8-3/4. It's all in a '66 Valiant 2 door post car that weighs 3200# with me in it. It is my daily driver, and I have won gobs of money bracket racing it this year. |

14.26 @ 95 mph
My 68 B'cuda has run 14.26 with a SL6, this was done with a stroked 170 engine running a Hyper-Pak intake and headers.
There have been a few other slants through this car over the last couple of years, my current, near stock 225 with the Hyper-Pak and a set of cast iron dual exhaust manifolds is running 14.70s The car weighs 2850 with me in it. DD (There are lots of fast slants out there, see the link for some SL6 racing shots) http://www.slantsix.org/galleries/ |

Myself I have an old and very distressed 64 valiant which needs lots of frame repair due to rust, and a 63 dart. the dart has a 225 and the valiant has a 170. I am unsure weather i'm am going to start working on the valiant, I would like to get a hold of a 70's dart 4-dr with a half decent frame and body and stick my valiant engine into it. Anyone have one? Or just leave a msg describing you pride and joy weather or not you want to sell it . I want to hear what ppl are building!

Guam, my friend Mike Jeffrey and the "Buzzin' Half Duzzin'" '68 Valiant Slant car went 10:19@129 at Monster Mopar Weekend in St. Louis last month.
Charles Meyers will be trying to put his Slant powered Arrow into the 9's at the Classic in Richmond this month. He has already gone 10:30's. |

Spray the Slant...
I recently tried-out a 80 HP shot of NOS on my 14.70 SL6 combo and that knocked 1.4 seconds off the ET, picked-up 10 MPH.
Ran a 13.21 at 101 mph. Here is a link to some PICs. http://www.dutra.org/pictures/engine...e/nos-test.htm DD |
