I am looking at a 71 Charger Super Bee. It is a 383 pistol grip car that is in very nice original shape. I would say it is above a nice driver but not number two condition. The price is 15000 and I thought that was a little high. It is a big block car though. Any opinions or any other similar cars anyone has for sale??

Very simplyput, a car is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

With that being said... The basic information that I have shows:

Condition Value
1 17K
2 11K
3 6.5K
4 4K
5 2K

These are good ballpark values from about a year ago. You can check the Old Car Price Guide (available at Walden books) for more current ballpark values.

June 2000 Old Cars Price Guide shows;

#1 $18000
#2 $12600
#3 $ 7200
#4 $ 3600

For some reason in 1970 they show to add on 20% for 383 but not in 71.
S0 it sounds like he considers it of #2 value and you are thinking #3

I don't know if you would be interested, but I know of a place in Silver City, NM that deals muscle cars. Last week when I was there, they had a '71 charger SE for sale for $9,500. It only carries a 318, two barrel, but the car is in dang good condition. It is red with a black top, I am not sure on the milage, but it has to be pretty low for the great condition it is in.

If interested, call (1-887-698-2266)

I have a two owner (father and son) extremely well documented '72 Ralley, fully loaded with a 440, air, PW, etc,.yet the car is worth a fraction of the earlier body style.Of the '71-74 B-bodies, The '71 is easily the most desireable of the bunch.

It is all a matter of personal taste. Of the Chargers, I had a '68 R/T and a '69 SE. I also had a '71 Road Runner, and I like my current '72 the best. Don't worry as much about the value and what your friends think. Consider how much you are willing to put into the car (emotionally and otherwise) once you are done.

Take care,

Chuck

I guess I would have to agree that its only worth you want to pay......however.....its certainly not going to be worth or cost any less in the future. If its a car that you really want, then you'll justify it some how and come with up coin too! 2 weeks ago I went to look at a motor for my (now sold) 73 Charger, when I left the place and turned the corner there was 69 Charger staring me right in the face! Had a 383 Magnum originally and now houses a 440, magnum doors and hood. My favorite car and body style! I asked the guy what he would take for it.....1 hour later and $5000 well spent, it was in my garage. I was offered $8000 today at the gas station, I haven't even got the title yet!! They won't lose money thats for damn sure! Plus the stares and smiles from people speak for themselves!!

So, JTramoRT,
Its been a while since your post. Did you buy the 1971 Super Bee or not? If so, how much? And give us the details, color, rallye rims, gears, etc.
