Default torqueflite masters??

Anyone know what year the valve body was changed in the 727 to allow it to do 3-2-1 downshifts on decell insted of only 3-1?

Mine does 3-1 down shifts, and as far as I know, it's a 69, model. Came from a 383 charger.

Just curious if anyone new for sure, as I am guessing that they changed in about 1970

My '68 Charger does the 3-2-1 downshift and it is the factory original 727. It did the 3-2-1 downshift before it shelled out (tranny line opened up and pissed all over the interstate) and it does the 3-2-1 downshift after being rebuilt.

I guess my 727's older than that then. I suppose I could get a number off of it(not that I care how old it is, it works great )

I am still curious though as to when the change was made to those transmissions, if anyone else has an idea.

'71 (actually very late '70) was the introduction year for the part throttle kickdown in V8 cars.
The downshift sequence when completely raising the throttle depends on some variables. Many cars will need to come nearly to a complete stop before the trans will drop out of high gear.
