I think there can be a couple of hundred pounds of variation, depending on options. An auto car weighs 100 pounds more than a stick car, everything else the same.

I weighed my van at the dump/landfill. I suggest you try that too, as it won't take much time, and is reasonably accurate.
I was very surprised that the van weighs about 5000lbs with me and a tank a gas in it. |

Dan....the books show a shipping weight of 3700#, but they are notoriously low. The 3980 is probably a little high. Shipping weights were for base car and limited options. A/C, PS, PB, trans differences, etc. are not included. As the guys said, get yourself to a certified scale (usually 2.00 to 7.00 in my area) Gins, grain elevators, feed and seed, truck stops, fertilizer, etc. all have scales. Look for about 3850 depending on the accessories, junk in the trunk, etc. By 74, the inner door protection, huge safety bumpers, etc. really piled on the weight. My good friend who has a 74 Dart Sport 360 almost passed out when we weighed it. 3560# The same day we weighed my 77 Volare RR on the same scale and it was 3630#, only 70 lbs. difference between the A and F bodies. Both were original 360 cars with A/C and all accessories.

it originally had a/c, p/s, auto trans but i took off the a/c and p/s and both sway bars so i was thinking when i weigh it should be in the high side of 3800. can u guys think of any other ways i can lose some weight and how much that it would lose

Dan....lots of weight can be removed, but I like to remove it from the front only. There is usually a bumper within the bumper. You can remove it, fabricate some mounts, and keep your correct chrome bumper. This is good for about 35-40# off the nose. Under dash is good for about 15#. A/C evaporator core, etc.
Carpet and underlay is about 20#, but keeps the noise down. Undercoating (PITA to remove) is about 30#. Inner door guard for side impact protection will astonish you, but very hard to remove and leave paint intact on the outside. Just depends on how streetable you want to have it. |
