Question Good street tires

Hello guys!!!

I was thinking of a seldom discussed topic and would like to hear your opinions. I would like to know your recommendations for a good street tire, preferably with raised white lettering. I know some people who use bfgoodrich radial t/as and some who use Hoosiers. I have Kelly chargers which I bought when I was a real newbie at this.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I have BFG radial t/a on my cuda, and it's almost the only brand/model tires I have bought in 10 years for my cudas and stuff, (not for the RAM though). Happy enough with them though. Longer life than some of the others, but its a trade off with traction. (they are harder than some of the other tires) But good life, and classic look so I probably wont change anytime soon.

Hey! I've heard good about both. Couldn' t find any with raise lettering that were capable of hooking like the quicktimes. As for me, as soon as I smoke the TA Comps., simply because they have the dia. that my Dart will allow. 26x15 to QT's 27x15.

If you want traction and raised white lettering, I like the hoosiers. Those look so cool as a bonus.

I have BFG radial TA's and I'll never buy another set. They have no traction and when I'm on the gas I'm out of speed rating in a block. Firestone tires, I stopped buying them years ago when all their steel belted tires started coming apart and they told the public "no problem with our tires". I'm thinking of Hoosiers for my next set.

Firestone, which is also Bridgestone is on the brink of collapse. I wouldn't want to spend my hard-earned money on them.

I did a lot of research before I bought the tires for the canyon carver '66 Barracuda. Talked to a lot of autocross guys. My choice ended up between the Perelli Asymetric, and the Toyo Proxis at about $200 each - I bought the Toyos.

Yes, this is for street and no, I don't want to spend $200 per tire, BF goodrich radial t/a's are about $70, so I guess I could fork over $100 each. This car will also see limited track time. So, a dual purpose tire with good wet traction, It rains quite a bit in Puerto Rico, is what I'd like. Engine should have 420lb-ft torque and 400Hp, so I need decent traction.

Thanks guys!!

ive had a set of dunlop gt qualifiers on my duster for about a year now, and i like em a lot. they ride nice and quiet, i dont have any abdormal wear problems considering my driving style, they do great in the rain, handle decent, and hook fairly well. the raised white letters a vaguely cool, too.

Yes len, we are a bit south, but we're americans (citizens since 1912). Since I want to keep a classic look to the car I think Jap tire's are way off. Anyway it looks like the dunlop's, hoosiers, or bfgoodrich would do nicely. Thanks for all the input, I appreciate it.

Most BFGs are built in oriental countries, and most Dunlops are also built offshore. Hoosiers, however are not built offshore... they are manufactured in Mexico.

Just pullin' your chain about the Hoosiers.

Dunlop Q, hoosiers, firestone ss20 or bfgoodrich TA. in that order. Dunlop's traction and mileage is better but the compound gets harder over time. Must be nice to drive your Mopar all year.

10sec340,
Are you using the Hoosier QTs on the street as well as the strip? How do you like them on the street?
