alternator pulleys
I want to put a higher amp alternator on my 62 300--does anyone know if the back pulley lines up with crank pulley? Have already converted to electronic ignition and late model alt. but it is the 40 amp single pulley type. With hidden audio, halogen lights, etc. the 40 just doesn't seem up to the job. can get the 64 amp model for an A/C car at advance for $43 but it is, of course a double pulley model, which is fine if it lines up, as I plan to add vintage air unit soon.--thanks for any help you guys can give. Bob

i'm pretty sure that the back groove on the double pulley will line up...when I got my 67 newport it had a double groove pulley from an A/C car on it, later on I switched to the newer style alternator with the ground brush on it which was a single pulley model and it lined up fine.....

The pulley swap isn't done easily, as it presses on.
I don't suggest trying it yourself. |
