Intake manifold - weiand
Headers - spitfire headers
cam - have your core reground by any cam company

Some parts, ignition, rods, bearings timing gear etc. are the same as in 273-360 LA engines and can be taken there. There is some company supplying even cam cores but I don't remeber what it is. Pistons, valves etc. are custom stuff. There was and article in Mopar Muscle maybe a year ago introducing a 400 hp poly 318 and there was also some sources for the parts.

Racer Brown has a long list of cams for your poly.
Borrow or obtain a copy of the MoPar engines small block manual. Theres only a few pages on the engine. But it will tell you what you can use from the "LA" engines on your "A" engine.
There is a factory dualquad intake for it. IF you can turn the right rock for it and have lots of $$$$$$$$ on you when you find it.

Default ATTN: Gary Pavlovich

Gary Pavlovich is our resident expert in polys. He is not on the board very often. If you send me your email address at www.ThunderboltRanch@msn.com I'll email him and let him know you want to talk. I'd just give you his email address, but he may not want it published.

I have plans for a poly project down the road.

Yes, the poly 318 idea's are very interesting. With the ability to bore to 4" and except the mopar 4" stroke for 318! Whoa 402 cubes! I would be interested in finding more info on the Poly heads.

They are the design that chebbie copied for their rats. The design is pretty good, and can be made to breathe very well.

Yes, the heads can do well. The valves face each other a bit. There called canted valve. Some call the head, "Semi HEMI" becuase the valves face each other like the hemi. The chamber is not so lucky.
Mopar Muscule did a poly build up. That Goldigger was talking about. The engine made 400+ HP.

It was actually Garys engine, hope he sees this. On my opinion the engine performed well, but it seems like there was not that much left in the heads. As far as I remeber the heads went through a lot of work and yet they weren't that much better as the untouched stock valve heads flow wise. Perhaps I just expected them to be better than the LA heads and that was unrealistic.

400 HP from a fifty year old engine design, whose development stopped about 1958 ain't too bad.

When you consider where chebbie went with the same cylinder head design, you might even consider it to be pretty good. When you look at product lead times that existed back then - no CAD/CAM computer help - then chebbie must have started their design process on the head about the time Chrysler decided to drop it, in order for them to release it in time for the '63 Darlington race.

Think about this: where would it be today, if MOPAR engineers had continued to develop it?

ALL the poly motors can be turned into a hemi using the older Hemi heads now with the 4'STROKER CRANK and opening the bores a 402 stroker hemi sounds like one hell of a kool project .i haven't seen one built yet but it's been on my back burner for awile i think the de soto hemi heads bolt on but i'm sure you can find out on the hemi net.com

You can't do it with a poly 318, without about $5000 in machine & fabrication work. It works with the others, though, although you must use the hemi head that came with the hemi version of that particular engine. You can't just bolt on a 331, 354, or 392 head to a 241 poly.
