Default Bypass hose blowing out

OK guys, got a serious question;

Upon winding the 318 up 5500-6000 rpm, I've had 2 brand new water pump-to-manifold bypass hoses literally explode under the water pressure and spew coolant all over EVERYTHING (in the past week). This is a very annoying problem as I've never had it happen on other mopar small blocks. Thermostat is 190 deg on an M1 intake and water pump is stock.

Do I need a higher quality hose than the parts store replacement??? Could water pressure be too high due to higher temp t-stat and the pump aggrevates the problem at high rpm?

Kind of baffling and any help is appreciated!

TD

Sounds like the thermostat is not opening, or is just plain stuck. I would put in a 160 degree and try it again. Those little hoses could get expensive.

Yah, you have a restriction somewhere, take out the t-stat and go for a short drive and see if the same thing happens.

Thanks guys,

I'll try that tonite and let you know. Kinda weird cuz t-stat was new at the end of last year. It did sit without water for the good part of 6 months though. That may be it.

Thanks
