Default Tank Sending Unit

I saw an article on putting a larger fuel pickup tube some time ago, possibly in mopar muscle. I cant find it ANYWHERE now. Does anyone remember seeing the article? I am hoping that with the month and year I can find it here. thanks

I used a 3/8 line from Year One. Are you going bigger. Start welding. Not hard to do. Just bend like whats there and cut out the pipe on the pick up. Drill for new pipe and weld.
Presto.

Thanks, Rumblefish. I'm lacking in experience, so I appreciate getting advice so I don't really mess things up. I wanted to go to a 3/8 tube, since the fuel line is 3/8" from the fuel pump forward.

Some one recently posted about doing that. You can either spend about $150 for a new sending unit, or you can pull your sender out and ben 3/8" tubing to match all existing bend on the 5/16". Then cut off the 5/16", open the the hole on the sender plate, put the 3/8" tube in and solder it into place. Once that is done, you will need to carefully remove the tank float/sender assembly from the 5/16" line and then solder it to the 3/8" line. Then reinstall the sender in that tank. Don't forget to replace the 5/16" tubing, between the tank and the pump, with 3/8".

I've never seen this article in Mopar Muscle, but have in Mopar Action a couple of times. As the other guys said, pretty simple to do, and saves $$. Only thing I have to add is buy a new sending unit seal from your local dealer...and don't forget the larger 3/8" "sock" in tank filter...also available from dealer.

Shit, don't forget that the larger 3/8" sock filter will require your new 3/8" tubing to be a little shorter then the stock 5/16" was.

Thanks for adding those in, I had forgotten about those. Also, if that is a stock fuel pump, you'll want a better pump that can take advantage of the 3/8" fuel line.

Thanks Guys! The magazines are handy, but it's great to know that I can ask a question here and get so much good help. I REALLY appreciate it!
