This has been discussed here, quite a bit.
The most common solution seems to be to use disc brakes from a slightly newer mopar. Specifically a 73-76 a body. To do this, you'll need. Upper control arms(the ball joint is different) spindles calipers rotors pads bearings seals master cylinder proportioning/ combination valve The stuff is a bolt on. Its about $150 worth of wrecker stuff or $300 if you use new parts with wrecker spindle and proportioning valve. Only problem from there, is that you will then have 4.5" bolt pattern wheels on the front and 4" on the rear. C body axles can be turned down by a machine shop to fit in, and then newer rear brakes can be added too(not that there's a benefit, other than the bolt pattern) Old axles and drums can be redrilled to the larger pattern as well, although this is not a recommended procedure. |

Can't you just grab the rear end from the donor car, if it's still there?

accually the rear end in the car is a ford 9"
so it has the bigger bolt pattern what I am looking for is "mail order" kits I dont think I will go to something like that but prices is what I am looking for with new spindles or reuse the drum ones eventually I am gonna do a polygraphite rebuilt kit for the front end--everything is gonna be apart I havent decided on anything yet but I do know it needs to stop better as I say-what kits have you personally used any that someone you know used ect |

chuck 64, the reason most people don't use the diff from the donar car, is that it would be an 8 1/4 or 7 1/4.
If the older car has an 8 3/4" diff that is usually the prefered axle. The problem is that 8 3/4 differentials were NEVER made for an A body with big bolt axles. They only had small bolt axles, and when small bolt axles were deleted in 73(???not sure on the year) the a body 8 3/4 also disappeared. It was replaced with the 8 1/4. I've got nothing against 8 1/4's but some people do. |

mpbrakes has kits, so do some others,,,mp cost is 895.00 + around 75 for shipping , 995.00 for power brakes , ,.....but check around if ya want,, some come with parts that other kits dont offer.... to get get all the parts for the price,, like the only thing mp brakes did not provide was the splash guards, other wise you go to auto parts store get lower ball joints for a b-body like for roadrunners or charger.. your set, oh and splash guards, if ya want them...
oh here.. www.mpbrakes.com coolcarz |
