Bore and Stroke for a 383
Hi
I know this been drifted a million times,,,but just wanna know,,compared to other well known cars such as Mustangs 289 ,massproduced Chevys and other famous cars from different manufactors how short is the 383 magnums 3.38 stroke and how wide is the bore 4.25 compared to the others,,, Ive heard it can match the 273 in stroke and some 454 in bore,,but I need correct figures since its the base of a story in a magazine ....................... Yes ,,,,One of the biggest carmagazines in Sweden is going to do a story of my car,,,,,proud??? I wanna submit some rows like this: "Its even wider in bore than the XXX from XXX" " The stroke is as short as XXX from XXX" Thanks all!! Best regards Olle B |

There is also a 1 or 2 year only RB, not B engine that displaced 383. I believe the Bore and stroke is 4.03 X 3.75 equaling 383.

Nice info listed. There is also a Lo Deck (B) 350 cubic inch Mopar engine (very limited) 4.06 X 3.38. Mostly 58-59 on the odd ball sizes. Not real important, but a great trivia question.

Dirty D
Well you could always take a quick eveninglesson study in reading Swedish!! Just Kidding!! I will scan some pics of the article,,(If it ever happens!!) and offcourse send it to the forum!! Theres some intresting facts around those R/T convertibles Ive found out so far!! 8,8% was Top Banana as mine!! 29% having AC 43% having Power discbrakes 40% having original hood pins So with all above I guess the car is pretty uncommon! Add all matching# and a good story around the car it is perhaps becourse of that the paper is intrested! None of the during 1974-1978 imported R/T:s was Yellow! Since 1978 to 2000 when I imported mine no R/T :s went to Sweden,,,12 went back to US!! I went for a ride yesterday ,,top down with the publisher,,(remember my last forumQ "How far can I rew my 383") The guy is a proud owner of a Shelby mustang convertible 350-67,,, but man,,,he was really impessed when the tach was reaching 6200,,,(I know I will never do it again!!) And for being the man he is,,not a moparfan,,more to Chevys and Ford he was amazed over the perfect balance and driveabilty from this moparcar! Cant help it,,,I just love this car!! Thanks Olle B |

dirty dan;
Lucky for you I read that other post or I might have been insulted or confused. Or thought you a little light in the head this eveing. I didn't reply to that thread.) However, MoPar made some unusaul engines that aren't main stream public purchased or known. Many don't know that in WWII, the chrysler plant built tanks and was the main surplyer of engines for the tank. I have seen pics of the engine before. It is more or less like they welded 3, 6cyl. engines together. So, IF they made a 460 engine, it could be VERY old and only in a Mack type truck or maybe something less seen like a naval boat/tug boat kind of thing. Who knows? 200 years from know they will be an argument over the possible existance of the mysterious poly 277 engine. "Is it real? Did they exist? who's great great great grand dad owned one? " Flash!!!!!! Discovered in barn!!!!! Ultra rare MoPar police car from the '70's!!!! Only one left of a gazzilllllion made!!!!We have the photo's to prove it!!!" |
