Default Muffler Paint/Question???

I received my 3" Flowmaster's today, they are thicker and heavier than a standard muffler so they shouldn't rust out as soon, but shouldn't I paint them or something anyway?? and if so with what??
Thanks.

Lightbulb hmm......

I dont think I have ever seen a rusty flowmaster before.
Try stove or grill paint. that stuff is pretty tough.

My impression is that mufflers rust from the inside out, as the cooling that occurs after engine shut down causes condensation in the whole exhaust system. This will pool in the muffler, and eventually rust. Painting the outside won't help.
However, painting them to look clean is a plus!

i used the stuff sold for the header wraps, it comes in vatious colors, and the muffler doesn't get hot enough to burn it, as it was designed for header temps..

Default Muffler paint

I always use Eastwood exhaust paint on my exhaust pipes and mufflers. It's a bright silver flat finish and really stands up well, no chipping no pelling. Also looks great, around 9 or 10 bucks a can.
