Default Strange stuff, but true!

So here's the deal. 2 weeks ago I finally got the Cuda to the strip, and after 18 passes and considerable fine tuning, the car made a best ever of 11.69 @ 114.399. This betters our all time best of 11.72 @ 113.50 set 10 years ago. Now the strange part. The old best was set with the Mopar 292/509 cam, which ate a lobe 2 years after. I then put in a Comp. 292/501, pretty close but the Mop. has 108 LSA and the Comp. a 110 LSA. The car would ALWAYS wheelie with the old cam, best 60' was 1.62. The car will not wheelie with the Comp. cam, yet the 60' was 1.58 on the 11.69 pass! What gives, everything else is the same. Also, I have a Comp. 305/525 cam still in the box, but according to my desktop dyno, it will make LESS power up to 5000 rpm than the 292/501, after that it makes slightly more. I only run it to 6200 rpm. Should I try this new cam, or leave well enough alone. Thanks for your replys in advance, everyone!....djs

Not doing the wheelie must be part of the difference in your 60 ft time.

I was watching popular hotrodding tv, and they talked about how pro steet guys tune their suspensions so the cars launch perfectly flat. It apparantly makes a big difference out of the hole.

I'd try the bigger cam for fun anyway. What do you got to loose?

You can always go back later, and it's a good test of how accurate the software is.

Those are valid points Dave. Interestingly, I watched a Super Stock racer on TV several years back who noted that the higher his car lifted the front end the better the ET was. Go figure...............djs

Default wheelie or not

the optimun wheelie height is 2" this would indicate perfect weight transfer.
Any thing more may be entertaining but would be absorbing energy and actualy reduceing your 60' times.
Your better off useing that energy to get the car moveing off the
line then off the ground.
Hope it helps
