Help changin 79 sb for 88 cop 318 sb converter queston

have a 79 dodge truck with a 360 or 318 not sure with 727 trans the motor dont run good so i wanna use my cop 318 that came with a 904 trans. i dont want the 904 i wanna use the cop 318 with the trucks 727 thats in the truck so will i be able to use the torque converter and flexplate from the truck motor and trans and use it for the cop 318? will the cop flex plate work with the other motors torque converter?
cause someone told me the converter from a 904 wont work with the 727 so i wanna se if this set up will work just swichin the converters?

with the starter on the 1979 motor work same with the cop engine i converted the cop engine to vaccume distubutor and changed the carb timing out new cam on it it has stock cop 4 bbl i got a carb adap for edelbrock on this intake will it work fine? thanks for the help!!!!

You cant change torque converters between 727s and 904s, especially since that 904 is probably a lockup and the truck one might not be. Either flexplate should work, but you can check them first to see if they're identical just in case one happens to be different. It also shouldn't matter which starter you use.

As long as you set the engine up in the truck the same way it's in the car (swapping over the ECU, ballast and anything else that's on the fenders/firewall of the car for the ignition setup you're using) none of those changes you've done should affect anything.

The only problem you might encounter is with the oil pans. A truck oil pan won't work in a car, I can't remember if you can go the other way or not tho. And if what's in the truck is a 360 it's oil pan won't bolt onto the 318. If it's a 360 you'll also need to remove the balancing weight from the face of the torque converter.

the car oil pan will not work in the truck
you have to use a rear sump oil pan in a truck
