I was looking in the Mopar engine book and seen this many times. What is the prupose of notching the boosters 3/8 wide by 3/16 deep?????

supposed to give the "spray" pattern coming out of the boosters a bias toward the far cylinders for better balance.

Thanks. I thought it might have something to do with that. The books just don't mention why you should do it. Seems like there would be better ways to do this than disturbing the carbs airflow.

Yeah, they used to glue matchsticks to the floors of the center cylinders runners to do the same thing. They still do to the Port-o-sonic single plane per a few MP rags.
