Rim Size for 79 CJ7
I recently purchased a 1979 CJ7 with 258ci engine. The Jeep came with 12.50x33 Tires on 10" rims. I want to order a set of 15x7 rims but need to know the bolt pattern size ( I think its the 5 1/2". They also need to know the back spacing. From what I could measure it seems to be about 4". Does anyone know the actual specification on the rims for this model Jeep.
Thanks, Eric |

You nailed it on the head...
15x7 5 lug on a 5-1/2 spread 4 inch backspacing No Offset You can use wheels with as little as a 3.75 inch to 4.25 inch backspace. The Offset will depend on the type of wheel but typically don't push it much further than 7mm positive or negative. The other good news is that any CJ based Jeep from 1946 to 1985 should have wheels capable of fitting your Jeep properly if you are hunting for some originals. |
