Question MAS Fluid filled dampers???

Anyone ever use a "Fluid Filled Damper" from MAS Racing Products? They're 1/2 the price of anything I can find in the Summit catalog.

Thanks,

Greg

I bit the bullet and bought a "Fluidampr" for the inflated Canadian price of 675.00. And I'd do it again, simply because, if there's two things I've learned......... you usually get what you pay for, and the cheaper things are usually cheaper for the obvious reson, not as good.

They have a 1 page add in MOPAR Muscle every month. If the part is SFI approved it can't be that bad... can it

What are they asking? I have a C.A.T Fluid Damper and I like it. I cant see what could be different. Laser welds, SFI approved, engraved timing marks, anodized black finish. Very Solid. I think I paid $239 or so.

They are asking $160-black or $170-Chrome

They do NOT specify SFI approval in the ad.

I did a cross reference of the PN and found that it is a CAT. It is SFI approved.

If pishta is running one and has no problems, I'd say go for it, as it is a great price. I may even consider one, when I go to rebuild my engine.

Here is the info that I have found

Quote:
Harmonic Balancers-
SFI Approved Fluid Dampers
All these fluid dampers incorporate:
  • All dampers are tested to 12,500 RPM for explosion proof in compliance for SFI 18.1 specifications.
  • Rust proof surfaces are either chrome plated or anodized
  • Engraved timing mark on evey damper
  • Reduce rotating mass and noice to 2/3 of the original OEM

These fluid dampers are manufactured from forged 1025 low carbon steel housing and filled with high viscosity silicone fluid. A nylon sliding ring and position guides allows the steel inertia ring a rotation freedom inside the housing. The steel inertia ring rotates harmonically with the engine and absorbs the torsion vibration from the rotating assembly at any frequency and RPM. It thus extends the life of the crankshaft and bearings and allows the engine to produce more power and torque.
