Question SS springs -vs- Ladder bars

I know this subject has surfaced before, but should I attempt fitting a ladder bar setup w/ coil overs on my 5th Ave? or just do the SS springs and a pinon snubber? Is the ladder bar setup worth the exrta $$$?

I tried the SS springs first, but didn't like the stink bug look. Currently running comp engineering adjustable pinion ladder bars and coil overs.

If you intend to drive it a lot on the street, Super Stocks are a much more forgiving setup than the Ladder bars (ever try to corner really fast with ladders, or have a tire go low on you? Not fun been there, done that, went back to leafs. A four link is much more complicated to set up, but is more streetable than ladders, and both ladders and four link are very much overkill on most, read I said most street cars (someone out there has a car that needs them on the street, I'm sure).

I have to agree with you on that one! Also, is there really any car that needs ladder-bars or 4-link? This month's Car Craft has a big block duster that runs 9.31 @ 147 with SS springs. My ladder bar was a pain in the butt to install and make look nice with out back 1/2'ing the car (kept the full interior). If I were to do it over, I would see if I could find someone to custom make some leafs for the ride heigth I wanted.

Greg

a good spring shop can de-arch a set of super stocks for you. On my duster I moved the spring eye on the front up into the frame as far as possible when I moved the springs under the frame and Mini tubbed it. About 4 inch lower than on the stock hangers. The Four links and Ladders have their place in faster cars as they use the energy more efficiently on launch which translates into lower ets, but I think it's not worth it on the street.
