Default Cab Interchange

I know this isnt a performance question but I need help quick. I'm looking for a cab for my 79 Lil Red. My neighbor has an 87 and 92 pickup and hes planning on getting rid of them. He said I could have the cab if I want it. Will either of the cabs fit onto my truck. I've only got a few days so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know. Why don't you try asking on the truck forum?

the cabs 87 & 92 look the same as the 79 but im not sure if they will bolt to the 79 frame but you could always measure the bottom where the cab bolts to the frame or if he is just gonna give it to you it would not hurt to try it (let me know if it works)
but the interiors are differant door panels and dash so you would have to change those also to make it look correct

Phone a local area wrecker, and ask them.

They have an interchange manual that has that kind of information in it.

If I were to guess, I'd say the newer cabs won't work. There are slight differences in the body lines(fenders and doors have a line in them, just down from the top of the fender and window edge. Not there on the 79 ) that would also affect the lines of the cab behind the door.

I just happen to be a truck man(well sort of).Cabs up to 82 will fit that frame.(actually 72-82)The 80 and look different,so you have to use the fenders, inner fenders, and core support to match.
There probably isnt much to making newer 83 up to the new Ram style fit either.I'm not sure but a little welding may be enough to cure it.But I do know for sure 72-82 will bolt on.Basicly you want 72 -79 cab to match what you have now. They are around.I bought my cab, box, and hood for 750 bucks delivered to my shop. Its online if you want to check it out http://kickme.to/captcaveman

I think the only problem you will have will be in the interior, the 82 model has a different dash pad and gauges(location mainly)
i have a 78 and know for sure that the 72 interior parts will fit fine
not for sure after that
