I ONLY REMEMBER AN ARTICLE THAT TALKED ABOUT IT WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT BUT I REMEMBER IT SPECIFICALLY SAID AN EXTERNAL OIL LINE WOULD HAVE TO BE FABBED BECAUSE OF OILING DIFFERENCES, OTHER THAN THAT THERE WASNT ANY OTHER HOLDUPS....PRO..

You don't need an external oil line. The Magnum engines oil the rockers thru the pushrods. So you need drilled pushrods and lifters with oiling holes in them (AMC style lifters). Most aftermarket lifters have the hole cause this way they fit both Mopar and AMC. As for the proper pushrods any competent pushrod maker can make them and I believe Crane sells sets premade.

Pro, how about turning off your caps lock. It's considered shouting. Thanks,

Steve

Cool

LA360DART,

The Oct. 98' issue of Mopar Muscle had a very informative article on this subject. If you can get a copy of this issue, the article is very imformative. You might try emailing Mopar Muscle at mopar@petersenpub.com to see if either a back issue is available or a copy of the article is available. The title of the article was "Magnum Advantage" "Converting Pre-'92 A-Engines To Magnum Cylinder Heads".

Also, TICO Racing Engines in Somerset Center, MI does this swap all the time. Their phone is 517-688-8426.

Best of luck with your project.

HV

I think the swap isn't really cost worthy. Although the results in the article were pretty good, they used a lot of pricy parts to achieve those numbers. The heads empty are cheap, but the total swap in the article cost about 2500$. For that price you can put in Edelbrock RPM heads and have them ported for even better results.

I just put some magnum heads on a '73 360. I used AMC type lifters, stock magnum rockers, and Melling MPR-89 pushrods. They are the right length and diameter, and are hollow for oiling. I pre-lubed the engine with the valve covers off to see how much oil goes thru the pushrods. It was a LOT. The motor seems to run just fine, with good oil pressure.
