Default 67' header problems

Hello everyone. I have a 1967 dodge coronet R/T that I am restoring. I had a high torgue starter that I put on the 440 and now the headers I have won't fit past the starter. I ordered a set of hedman headers from summit because the salesman assured me they would fit, guess what, they don't. Does anyone know of a header that will give me enough clearance to get past the starter. Thanks for reading and the feedback.

Default What Hedman #?

What is the Hedman stock number on the header that does not fit? I understood that the Hedman #78070 Shorty style fits the Nippondenso Starters. That is not an equal length four tube header.

I recently had the same problem when I tried to put a junkyard Nippondenso starter on my 67 Satellite.
What is the length of your starter from the mounting flange to the end of the stater motor? The end of the starter motor is where the header is hitting, right?
If your starter is longer than 6" from the mounting flange, there are shorter starters available.
The newest mini starters may be even shorter, but I do not know how much shorter.

Friend of mine ordered his headers thru TTI for a 440 GTX and they worked like a dream. Fit over everything. I tink they even came with a tude loose to aid in getting em in without yanking the motor. Have read nothing but good things about this company.
