Question Plexiglass

Hi

New to the chat room and am building a race car out of a '66 Barracuda Formula S. Does anyone know where I can get a plexiglass rear window for the car, as per the '66 Barracuda GT?

Home Depot (you got those over there?) ...Seriously. If you could bend it, I dont see why not. '66 GT? Never heard of it. Did it come with the D-Dart motor? Your not talking about the Mustang fastback are you?

Never heard of a 66 GT..was that the so called special 66 that was built for SCCA and exported to France (I think) that had the experimental 340?

I've seen the SCCA spec sheet from Ma Mopar and it shows a 340 but I don't recall it having a Lexan rear window??

Search Mike Star of Starfish racing or try Magnum Force they do alot of Mikes work and seem to be prety much up on this type of thing.

I like the 200 pounds of weight over my rear wheels.

A couple of points...

1) They do NOT have Home Depot in the UK.
2) He came here for help, not ridicule.
3) He is refering to Lexan

Here it is...I was mistaken..the engine spec is a 318 not a 340 and it is a Barracuda GT, only 500 built.

Real facinating stuff there, Cuda. Good detective work! I guess that since that 318 was installed in '65-'66 that it would have been a poly, right? No indication on any of the spec sheets one way or the other. Would be pretty interesting if Chrysler had chosen to debut the 318 wedge in France!

Wow, that is some crazy stuff. A Poly 318 with 2.00/1.65 valves, van seats with a plastic bubble. Note the extra driving lights in the grill and the 15 inch 7 wide rims. Hmmm, A '66GT eh?

I'm not sure if it was a Poly motor.....I understood from Mike that it was the LA 318..but I could be wrong...it was a couple of years ago.

I searched my computer for the pictures of the Team Starfish Cuda and Fish Fry side by side but I can't remember where or what name I saved them as and after an hour I gave up.

.....anyhow ..here's a pic of me dialing the carb on the Conley Racing #7 NASCAR Truck, switching it from a left turn to road course float set-up.

Don't laugh I get 40% off on haircuts......they wouldn't let me wear my Dodge hat....

Biggrin Plexiglass or Lexan????

Hi

Thanks for all of the leads guys, and dont' worry Pishta, I didn't think you were trying to ridicule me about Home Depot, I think it a great idea. We don't have Home Depot, but a similar outfit, I just thought there would be loads of racing Cuda's in the US all running plastic back windows!!

The pictures of Mike's Formula S racer are great, although I couldn't see where it said if he had a plastic back window or not.

The barracuda GT was a 500 piece special introduced in Nov 65 fitted with an LA 318 motor and lots of trick bits. I think it was homologated with drag (you call it sprint) racing in mind, as well as circuit racing.

In '64 and '65 the Mustangs were pretty dominant in circuit racing, until the Barracuda GT came along and blew their doors off! Lighter, more powerfull and with those vented quad brakes on the front.

Today in Historic toring car racing in the UK and Europe, Mustangs are everywhere winning most races, but noone is running any Mopar stuff. I think it is about time that history repeated itself and show that old Mopar can beat old Ford again!

Duncan.
