Default Aluminum Oil Pans

Has anyone used an aluminum oil pan for a street application BB?
Due to clearance issues with a stroker crank, I need to run an external pickup. The Milodon pans are deep and will not be very practical for the street. I can have an aluminum pan made that would be less deep. However, I've heard that the aluminum pans crack easily, even without hitting anything on the road. Is this true? Any recommended fabricators? Thanks for any input.
