Default Lingenfelter vs Hennessey

Car & Driver has some Supertuner comparison
on their television program this weekend. They
appeared to race the cars down a straightaway,
around some inner road course, and then back
around the oval to the finish line.

The victor was the 670-hp Lingenfelter C5.
The best Viper, an 800-hp Hennessey, was
around 4th, if I remember correctly.

Is there a reason why a 700-hp C5 should be
able to beat an 800-hp Viper? Both had TTs.
Power delivery? Handling? Or the drivers?

PS, I am not trying to start a V vs V debate.

I believe this was in a recent issue of Car and Driver, and it boiled down to power vs weight, and if I remember correctly, the Viper had some engine gremlins that hampered its performance. A tuner also brought out a turbo'd small block Sonoma that would have kicked a lot of ass if it didn't shred its trans.
