I swapped in a 440 for a 318 and while the waterpump pulley is the same, the crank is not even close.

daimeter on sb is smaller and depth is wrong. sb does not stick out from block as much as BB.

pulleys are a real hassle to piece together, try to find a complete set off a complete motor

depends on what type of work you want done.

I could recommend wheel alignment, bodywork/paint, tranny shop, and exhaust. other than that, I tend to take care of things myself or have not found anyone worth recommending.

all these guys are out near me (not close to queens) but let me know what you are interested in and I'll let you know

Kevin

It's a 68,stock 383 except for Hooker comps,MSD and Ed Perf intake.I used to go over to Fast Auto(Richie in Medford) but he moved south...I'd like to freshen this motor up,among other things...

If you went to Medford, then take a shorter drive to Huntington. Visit Bobby Craven on Rt.110 which becomes New York Ave. in Huntington. He's on the right (East) side on the street. Just before the "Town" of Huntington. If you pass the graveyard on your left, (Going down hill) you went to far.
His place is called Bob Cravens Super Car Cliic.
Bob has been a Chrysler tech/mech for 20+ years and has set records in his 273 Barracuda with multi national wins. His car is in the Garlits musem.
He can make'em go fast, look good and knows the cars well.

Peter, if you want to freshen the motor, I would highly recommend Steve Elsasser, his shop is in miller place...kind of far for you, but I found his work to be top notch. he built the current motor in my car, and I have not had one problem. He even talked me out of some stupid things I wanted to do-things that could have easily made him extra cash.
just an fyi for you

he is right on 25a, @1/4 mile east of the mcdonalds (I think coram/mt.sainai)

he is on the south side of the road in a row of three stores. Big piston mounted on connecting rod sign on roof. Just says "machine shop" Love that, plain and simple!!!

almost across from Mt. sainai Tire.

Will just say that I am very happy with the job he did. Unlike a lot of guys, he actually takes the time to measure stuff and correct things.
