Default exhaust leak blues

i just installed a rebuilt 74 360, with 72 j heads, & mopar performence headers into my 73 Duster. I bought a complete fel pro gasket set including "header gaskets". Looks like exhaust manifold gaskets to me. I installed them anyway. They leak anyway. Before I spend my money, who makes a good Mopar header gasket?. I will not tolerate leaks! Also, besides the factory 340 ones, does anyone make an aftermarket exhaust manifold?

You can get "dead soft" aluminum or copper header gaskets from Jeg's or Summit. Before you buy those little $40 beauties try coating your gaskets with some red high temp silicone. A little bit will usually fix it, just don't put too much or it will squish out into the primaries around the flanges and just plain look nasty.

I always use the SCI copper gaskets, and they never have leaked.

Also, when I'm building the engine, I have the exhaust ports milled flat, and also my header flanges. I also cut the header flanges between the front port and the middle ports, and between the back port and the middle ports.

I don't like leaks, either.

There are several versions of the exhaust manifolds. The ones that came on my 73 'cuda were plain logs, and I found a set of non-hp 71's that were a bit better. A step up is the hp manifold from a 70 or 71 (duster and dart hp of that year should be the same as cuda..). I have a set of non hp 71's that I fixed up, if you want, or you can shop e-bay for a real hp set from an AAR/T/A(maybe dart n duster have the same in those years, demon/gt model..)

These look more like the HP manifolds found on the big blocks, and are a definite improvement.

If you want headers, try TTIHEADERS.com I hear these fit real well, and they will certainly yield more power than any manifold.
The red goopy stuff, BTW really works.

Default Gaskets

Try red high temp RTV, I know all RTV is high temp, but the red works great for me. $5.95 a tube.
