Other 4/5-speed options for Mopars?
What other 4-speed options are out there for a stout street/strip Mopar? 450+HP
I am aware of the Keisler 5-speed. I'm thinking a little more afordable... I've heard mention of Tremec, but not gotten any specifics on what trans. Any thoughts or experiences to share? |

I've done some research on this, and it looks like any 5 or 6 speed is in the $3000 + range. A local wrecking yard is selling an A body small block automatic to 4 speed(A833) stick conversion for $800, which includes everything.
One of the things to be aware of is that most of the crankshafts on automatic cars don't have a pilot shaft hole for the trans input shaft, and you need to deal with that. |

If you don't like the cost issue of the Keisler, then I would recommend going with an A-833. |

Ok, I didn't know that it was a Tremec. What are the best ways to beef up a 23-spline 833? Do they even need to be beefed up?

The A833 is the strongest 4 speed ever put in an American car. People are driving them, unmodified, behind 600 to 700 horsepower engines.
