Question edelbrock idle mixture screws...???

on an edelbrock 1406 what would make one of the mixture screws have absolutely no effect on idle mixture?and i mean no effect,i took the screw completely out with the engine idling and it made no difference.the other screw responds exactly like it's supposed to,and creates a major vacuum leak if you take it out.

it's on a stocker 318(factory 360 4bbl intake,headers,msd-6al)in my '85 ramcharger.it was running great one minute, idled smooth as silk, snappy throttle response and decent gas mileage, then like flipping a switch the idle turned to crap and it's running soggy as hell. this carb has been on this truck for over a year without a hint of trouble, til now .

any help would be appreciated.

thanx,sean

I have this exact problem! But yours was running good for a year so maybe like said earlier check to see if theres any thing blocking the idle circuts.

yeah,i tried the easy fix ways(run a piece of wire down the passage and blow it out with carb cleaner)and it didn't fix it,so i guess it has to come apart .

thanx guys.

Default re edelbrock

Had the same proplem on a 1411 750, called Edelbrock tech-line, was told to do the following:
ck float level should be 3/8-7/16th, checked float level, was off a lot re set and it adjusts like it's supposed to, still trying to figure the logic in that.... but hey it worked for me
