1987 Dodge w150 power brake booster
I have a 1987 dodge w150 pickup. We just put a rebuild 360 in. We put edelbrock manifold and valve covers. Now we have a problem, the valve covers touch the power brake booster. Does anyone have an idea as to how to solve this problem? Can a booster from another vehicle work or is there a retro fit available? please help. slr

Possibly put some stock height valve covers on? A manual brake master cylinder from an older truck might work, but I wouldn't want to lose my power brakes just for a set of shiny valve covers. Personally I would send the valve covers back to wherever they came from, and just go with some shorter ones if you don't need the tall ones for rocker arm clearance.

Simple solution
There's an easy fix for this. Just get a new booster for the same year truck, but for a 3/4 ton with 3500 lb. axle.
This is the dual diaphram booster. It is thicker, but much smaller around. This is a trick much used when swapping in a big block for the same reason........valve cover interferance. You'll like the increase in brake performance, too!! Make sure your master cylinder is in good shape, if not, get a new one of these, also. Hope this helps..........MoJoe |
