I used to have a 95 Neon 4-door and then updated to a 96 Neon 2-door Sport Coupe. I loved both cars but they both had the same problem. When the temperature gets below freezing it is impossable to keep the windows clear. The front and back are not too bad but the side windows just will not defrost. I have to keep the scraper handy to scrape the inside of the windows as well as the outside. Has anyone else had a Neon in the colder climates that has also had this problem and how did you solve it? My 96 Neon runs cold in the winter and while driving in extreme cold weather the heat guage won't even move off cold. If the car is stopped and idling the temp will get up to normal but goes back down to just above cold as soon as I start driving again. Do I need a hotter thermostat or should I block part of the grille in winter to cut down on air thru the rad?

Sounds like you need to replace the thermostat - Get one from a dealer, trust me, There alot better than the aftermarket ones! I think you be much happier!

Also only use outside air while on defrost the recirc air is moist and won't clear. This is very important . On the 2000 neon is impossible to use recirc with defrost.
