Default A-Body tranny mounts/ crossmembers

Hello All!

I have a 1970 "Dart" (we call them 2-door Valiants over here) with 360/ 727. The transmission mount is the old style "sandwich" type which I would like to upgrade to the newer spool-type.

Unfortunately these were never introduced by Chrysler over here, so my question is which of the American A-bodies would be a suitable donor in terms of mount/ bracket and crossmember so I could bolt the newer style assembly into my vehicle?

Would these bits be hard or expensive to source in the U.S.?

Cheers, Paul.S

Try Schumacher. Send them an email about what you are wanting. They may have it.

Hey Paul
Eholster is right that probably is the best place to start looking.
Iam curious as to wich mount you are reffering to.
Is it the square one, with a 5/16 stud sticking straight down through the crossmember?
If so I can see why you would want to up grade.
As they are not redaly avalible here either.

Default old style transmission mount

Thanks ehostler, Schumacher seems to have the goods but aren't cheap (add postage to halfway round the globe!!). I'll email them.

Dirty Dan, to see the mount I'm referring to, try this link...
www.hemiperformance.com.au/CLEARANCE.htm
These can be found here easily & cheaply in rubber but not in polyurethane, and the Schumacher one would add up $200 Australian to land here!

a crossmember out of a 73 duster will bolt right up, use the spool mount, and just be plain cool. its what im going to run the next time i feel like crawling on the concrete to swap out my whooped buscuit style mount.

Default AHA!

Thanks Dusterbd, just what I needed to know!
I've been through 3 of the rotten things in 4 years, and that's before I worked the 360.
I've already started the parts chase--"Energy" poly spool mounts are 1/3 the Schumacher price......

Paul you will need the crossmember and a spool mount from a 73 and up a-body (does not matter which transmission or engine. These are a much better style than the old type. If you opt for the energysuspension spool type mount (which is a very good upgrade-I use one in my circle track car which is on and off the throttle lots)you will still need the old spool/mount as the energy suspension part uses the old shell and only replaces the rubber part. If you can't find one let me know as I likely have a few stored in the garage attic.
