Engine and head Id?
I have a chance to buy a BB mopar engine dont know for sure what the numbers on the heads were, but he told me somthing like 2399934 maybe one of the 3 was an 8 but I wil find out. Also he thought that the engine was a 413 out of a 70's motor home. The heads seemed to be much taller than regular BB heads also I noticed that the exhaust manifold bolts were diaganal looked like a BB ferd engine. Also the balancer was really thick not like a cats crank engine more like a steel crank engine only thicker. The heads are NOT the old 4 bolts valve cover too. It seemed to have a smaller bore like a 383 or 413. Not sure but the engine come out of a motor home which not does not mean it came with it. I looked through all my books with know help. I know the 413 ened in mid 60's!

Thats probably it! Is that a B block or RB? I was thinking that the crank was forged and being a 413 is the same as a 440. Would this be good for a future truck performer. And is there parts reidly available for these engines?

I'll need the block # to cross ref to tell you if it's B/RB I'm sure there are parts for that engine it's be around since 60. I built my first 23T in 64 with a 413 milled heads cam and 6x2 log manifold with strongburg carbs. It was bad for the time and did catch fire if it ever back fired when you cranked it.

Those are industrial heads/ block. 361 and 413 (as mentioned earlier)are heavy truck applications.
Great for performance as long as you don't have any plans to go above about 3700rpm, and your project vehicle is a gravel truck. Seriously though...The only advantage to that engine I can see, would be in a SERIOUS towing application.(like a one ton, you're using to haul houses, or skids of bricks, iron ship components, ect. Not for a weekend trip to the lake with a boat) They also came with an industrial 5 speed trans . Even then, the trans isn't overdrive(5th is one to one) and in some of them the 3-4 jump is really big, because that's where you're supposed to shift the two speed diff. Anything can be done, but I think a regular b/rb would be way cheaper to build. |
