Default orange box

Where can I get an orange box for my ignition? I have seen kits but are these sold individual? If so, does any of the usual auto part stores carry them? I need the wire also. Any Idea on the price range? Thanks.

You can purchase the box and wire kit from MoPar, Summit, Jegs or mancini racing on line.

Thanks for the quick responses. Is any significant increase in HP, drivability, or MPG with the orange box vs. a stock box?

Never had an oranfe box to with stand the rigors of daily driving abd ecause it is a performance number from Mopar if you connect it to the car there is no warranty. The aftermarket boxes sold at most part stores are half the price and three times the longevity. No detectable difference in performance.
The best buy on the wiring harness is a Mopar source.

The gains will be noticed in driveablity, starting and ease of maintenence. It does not give a very noticeable gain in performance. Maybe a stronger idle and better responsiveness. Try it with a Jacobs coil and that wakes it up a bit.

I have never had problems with the chrome ( beware of after mkt chrome boxes they are just that chrome, and shinny, for the chrome adds 10 HP crowd) or the orange box. I have had problems running a gold box on the street and before I get the on me I had a spare gold box from the O traker put it on and really forgot until I had the problem. Gold boxs are NOT for continuse use.

Just my experience with the wizards of OZ and elc

It will not void you warranty, you can put a supercharger roots or compresser on a bran new engine and it will not void the warranty as long as you did not make any enternal mods to the engine. If any one has had this type warranty problem get in touch with me and I will put you in touch with the people that will make a dealership wish they had fixed your problem.

You want to buy mine? Cheap!! And it's on the shelf ready to ship. Did I mention it's cheap. Hole set up 30 plus shipping. Check out my parts for sale listing.

Orange box is a great street box. Very reliable. To answer the question above yes, but it is very little. You can open your plug gap up a little to take some advantage of it over points. If you stil;l have points you'll love it. Chrome box a little better, but not much, and like someone else mentioned the gold box is a drag only piece not made for constant use.

Have run my MP Electronic conversion for 50,000 miles since 1996. Mounted under headlights on rad yoke (out of any road spray), put rubber bushings underneath to allow air to circulate, and ran dedicated ground from one mount point to engine.

There are others that are better, but it sure beats points and is easy to get any parts for, anywhere (unlike Pertronix).

Actually, Mancini Racing has those orange boxes on sale right now for 24.95 (internet webpage price). They are performance boxes good up 6000 RPM. Good luck.
