I have a 1990 Sundance, 2.2 fuel injection 5-speed with an idle problem. The car has always returned to idle slowly, I assumed for pollution control reasons.

Now, except when hot and running after 10 miles or so, the car attempts to hold whatever speed it is running at, not returning to idle until it actually stops. It is annoying but with the clutch in, not a safety issue. Engine codes are vague. 12= direct battery input to control disconnected within the last 50 ignition keys (battery has not been disconnected). And 27=injector output driver does not respond properly to control signal. The car has no problems with emissions tests, and runs well otherwise. Our local 5-star dealer told me last year to find my own AC problems after they failed 5 or 6 times (I did). So where do I start with this issue?

CHECK YOUR WIRING BEHIND THE VALVE COVER. IT WILL LAY ON THE EDGE OF THE VALVECOVER & RUB THRU. WRAP TAPE AROUND THE WIRING & TIE STRAP IT SO THAT IT WILL NOT RUB ON THE VALVE COVER
