Default 74 Duster ????

I am looking at getting a 74 Duster 318 3spd on the floor, disc brakes, for my new driver. Any opinions on this car? Are they worth anything? I wonder how their performance is. Thanks Matt

I had that exact car from age 15 to 19! Man I wish I still had it. Unstopable, wicked burnouts. This car had no mercy for 4 years and lived to tell about it. Mom soled it while I was on float with the USMC.

'74 Duster in just about any shape is fun! Look for rust on the winsheild frame, torsion bar support, and around the inside of the taillights. Plastic around the top of the doors inside and quarter glass is getting a little hard to find, but enjoy it as much as you can and keep us up to date on it..........

Think it would be a reliable daily driver though? I live in North Dakota so we see alot of snow and cold weather. I would be trading my Neon (Driver) for it, so it would be my only car out here. Thanks for the replys guys!

So would a 340/4 speed bolt right in then if I found one? What 4 spd would work in place of that 3spd? Thanks-Matt

A 340 4spd will pretty much bolt in, you would need the 4spd shifter, Left engine mount is different (but a few washers will fix that), likely transmission yolk will need larger one, drive shaft will be right length, clutch linkage will work.

I just swapped in a 340 4spd in place of a slant six auto in a 74 duster, this swap was a little more involved but was worth the effort.

I will try to attach a picture
