cry2 Need help removing my steering wheel

How do you go about disassembling the steering wheel for removal ?

1966 Dodge Coronet 500 with auto on the console and power steering.

The steering wheel is in mint condition and I don't want to bugger it up going about it the wrong way.

Thanks in advance.

steering wheel puller, like a cheap looking balancer puller. It's shaped like a cross with some fingers hanging off the ends and a screw down the middle, chuck it up and tighten. Itll pull right off. could use a 2 jaw gear puller too if you can find a strong place to -pull on

Pishta,
I have a steering wheel puller already. What I needed to know was where to begin disassembling the steering wheel to get to the point where I use the puller.

Should have known. My horn comes off with a push and a twist. Unplug the horns though, its alot easier on the ears. Under that I have 3 screws that hold on the horn contact, and the 3/4 or so castle looking nut is right in the middle.

My wheel on the other hand uses 3 - 3/8" hex nuts on the back side that are spring loaded inside (real easy to lose). Look on the back side, if no recesses by sight or feel for nuts to go in, then try the twist.

the horn ring on my dart drove me crazy, it kept getting looser and looser, and i couldn,t find any thing that seemed to hold it on.your steering wheel may be the same, inthat the small center part that holds the emblem comes off, exposing the screws.like pishta says, unplug your horns, then push pretty hard on the center button of the wheel while rotating your hand counter clockwise.good luck.
