They're actually meant mainly for street use.
I'm thinking of getting a set in the future because my P295/50 BFGs have a nice width, but only 26" height.

So .... a set of 12.5 x 29 Hoosiers would be an excellent way to fill up my big ol Dodge wheelwells with nice wide (and tall) rubber. And the best part is, since they're radial construction, the car would ride and handle awesome compared to MT bias-plys. This is a great idea in street tires!

I have the same deal. 295 50 15s. Wide enough but dont come close to fillling the well. I had to take out the 4:10s cuz with a 26 in tire it wound way to high on the road. A 29 in tire and I'm told an inch is 9%
gear change.

Man, doesn't that just chap your bacon? I've got a 4.10 carrier as well - used it with my 295s for a short time, but had to shelve it in favor of 3.23s. Just couldn't handle the decibels of my 440 @ freeway speeds (3,200 RPM) for very long at a time. Plus, it's embarrassing when the 26 foot Winnebago passes you like you're standing still.

After much searching and comparing, the only radial I've found with a 29" dia. is the 255/70-15. Listed at 29.1" dia., they're really closer to 28.5" in real life, and they only work/look good on a 7"-7.5" rim.

I've done a little measuring, and a tire dia. of 29"-29.5" would fill up my 'well perfectly. Maybe I'll E-bay my current stuff and score some of these babies!

Default tire dia./RPMs

According to the way-cool gear ratio/tire size calculator at www.prestage.com:

given 4.10 gears, non-overdrive trans, and a 65 mph highway cruise speed:

26" tall tire (295/50-15) = 3,444 rpm

29" tall tire (29 x 12.5) = 3,088 rpm

Remember, you'll lose a little bit of your tire dia. due to vehicle weight acting upon the tire, so these numbers are a close approximation. Even so, they give you an idea of the effect of tire sizing upon gear ratios.

Check out the prestage site, they've got some really cool auto-math calculators.

I bought a set of the Hoosier Pro Street Radials (18.5 x 31 - 15s) about 10 months ago. If you think they look good in the pictures, you should see them in real life! They look SOOOOO much better than the Mickey T's is rediculous! I havent finished "back halving" my ram 50 yet so they are not on the truck, but they look soooo dang good on my 15 x 14 centerline warrior wheels. I cant wait to see them on my Ram 50.
